Windows XP Installation

These are the instructions to be followed for a classroom installation of Windows XP.

    1. Use the Windows CD to install Windows. During the installation, be sure you are using the entire partition of the hard drive. (delete and recreate partitions if necessary)

    2. Obtain a copy of the network driver and install it on the computer so the computer can access the Internet.

    3. Update Windows by opening Internet Explorer and choosing the Tools > Windows Update menu.

      1. Choose the Express option and follow the directions to apply the update. The computer may have to be restarted during the process.

    4. Update Internet Explorer when prompted.

    5. Download and install the latest version of AVG Anti-Virus.

      1. Be sure to select "Basic Protection" when given the option.

      2. Be sure to select the Custom Install option, and configure as shown:
