Success Criteria
Success criteria are written alongside the learning goals. The criteria for effective success criteria are:
answers the questions "What does successful learning look like?", "What are we to look for during the learning?";
makes the success criteria explicit for teachers and students alike;
builds a common understanding of success;
lends itself to descriptive feedback;
promotes self and peer assessment;
helps identify possible next steps;
leads to individual goal setting;
empowers students to take ownership of their learning;
challenges students to internalize the criteria;
helps develop independent learning skills.
